In 1925, out of 130 participants, only 49 successfully completed the competition. The Italian Ottavio Bottecchia successfully continued his glory in 1924, winning his second and final Tour de France championship. However, in 1927, Bottegia was found lying on the roadside and dying. The cause of this tragedy remains an unsolved mystery to this day.

In 1927, due to dissatisfaction with the tactics adopted by the team on the Changping section, Henri Desgrane, the director of the Tour de France, attempted to add fun to the race and introduced a separate team timed segment. Similar to team time trials, each team sets off every 15 minutes in sequence. But this rule did not make the race more attractive and was abolished after the 1929 Tour de France.

In 1933, the competition initiated the competition for the title of “King of Mountains”. Another interesting situation is that since 1913, the Tour de France has been conducted in a counterclockwise direction, but by 1933, it was restored to a clockwise direction.

In 1936, after the implementation of the summer paid leave system in France, the number of onlookers on the roadside significantly increased. Henri Desgrange, who had served as the race director since the first Tour de France in 1903, was replaced by Jacques Goddet at the end of the second stage due to health issues.

In 1948, despite having the idea of retiring, Gino Batali ultimately won the competition. At that time, the Italian Prime Minister called Batali, urging him to continue participating and strive for victory, in order to avoid the turbulence in the Italian situation after the assassination of Palmiro Taurianti. Batali’s victory did indeed play a role, stabilizing the situation, and the riot quickly turned into a celebration. This indirectly indicates that during the golden age of cycling, this sport had a great influence.
